Mephi

Currently MEPhI - basic higher educational institution of nuclear industry in Russia, designed to prepare engineers: physicists, mathematicians, systems engineers, researchers, with deep knowledge of physic-mathematical sciences in conjunction with a major engineering training.

In an educational complex MEPhI includes 57 buildings and structures on the territory of 19 hectares on Kashirskoye Highway 31. The total area of educational and laboratory buildings - more than 96,000 m2.
MEPhI has several unique facilities:
Research nuclear reactor with a capacity of 2,5 MW;
Water neutrino detector "NEVOD” with Cherenkov detector volume of 2000 m3 and coordinate detectors of high spatial and angular resolution of 70 m 2;
Complex of accelerators to accelerate electrons and ions, with the possibility of a deep restructuring of the beam characteristics without compromising quality and a unique system of energy compression of the RF field

In MEPhI was created and is actively used in the learning process the new information environment of learning based on information and computer network (IVS) of the University and new information technologies. The network covers all training and operating university buildings, dormitories and housing of Physics and Mathematics Lyceum. The network operates at speeds of 100 and 10 Mbps, uses Internet, has access to an external fiber-optic communication line and through the Internet. Various forms of computer support to the educational process (electronic textbooks, computer labs, gym, etc.). The IVS University employs more than 1000 computers, 200 of them in the hostel buildings. Operates more than 40 computer training classes and display, half of which are networked with access to the Internet. Represented by all operating systems and types of computers, including personal computers, powerful workstations, information and computing servers. The MEPhI library is an electronic reading room, which allows working with all types of electronic information resources with access to the Internet. All successful students of the university provide scholarships to students in accordance with Russian law.
The University has developed social sphere. Nonresident and foreign students are provided with dormitory. Medical care faculty, staff and students performed in the clinic MEPhI.

Holidays and summer vacations, students and staff MEPhI can spend in the university recreation camp "Volga", located in the Tver region on the banks of the picturesque bay of the Volga. The camp has good sports facilities.
MEPhI and Sportclub Department of Physical Education conducted a training work to 28 sports. In sports clubs involved in more than 1000 students and staff.

MEPhI has extensive educational and scientific ties with many foreign universities and research centers. In MEPhI teach foreign students and postgraduates (120-140 people) from 12 countries, excluding the CIS. The annual output of foreigners is: Professional, Bachelors, Masters - 17-20 people, graduate - 3-4, professionals to raise their qualification - 4-5. Annually for overseas training in the USA and Europe leaves 6.5 MEPHI students and 6-8 graduate students.
The University has its own publishing and printing center, including a printing press. Current print products focused primarily on the production of educational and methodical literature. Published annually in the light of 110-140 books, of which 60-70 - textbooks, total circulation of 20000-40000 ind. In MEPhI out its circulation newspaper "Engineer-Physicist".
