Mikhail Strikhanov


Born July 18, 1952 in Krasnodar.

In 1967 entered the Krasnodar Polytechnic Institute, the energy department, and in 1969 transferred to the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI). Graduated from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute with honors in 1974 with a degree in Theoretical Nuclear Physics


1974-1997 years. - Researcher, Assistant Professor, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor of Engineering Physics Institute, Director of the Research Centre of the Ministry of Education.

1997-1998. - Vice Rector for an international educational and scientific activities of MEPhI.
1998-1999. - Deputy. Head of research of the Ministry of Education.
1999-2003. - Head of Development and Planning of Scientific Research of the Ministry of Education.
2003-2004. - Deputy Minister of Education.
2004-2007. - Deputy Director of the State Science and Technology and Innovation Policy, Ministry of Education and Science.
2006 - present - Head of the Dept 77 NRNU MEPhI (computer simulation and physics of nanostructures and superconductors).
2007 - present - Advisor to the Ministry of Education and Science on science and technology issues.
2007 - elected rector of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. 2009 - elected rector NRNU MEPhI.

In 1978 defended Ph.D. dissertation for the Ph.D. degree in physics and mathematics on the topic "Interaction of radiation with matter."
In 1984 awarded the rank of assistant professor.
In 1992 defended thesis for the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
In 1996 awarded the rank of professor.
Author of three books, 157 scientific papers on relativistic nuclear physics, and 87 scientific and methodical works on the integration of science and education in Russia and abroad.
Laureate of the Russian Federation in the field of education for 2004.
Head of MEPhI in the experiment STAR (discovery of the quark-gluon plasma) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (USA).
Participants of the experiment ALICE (CERN).

Member of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for science, technology and education.
Member of the Council on Grants of the President of the Russian Federation for State Support of Young Russian Scientists and state support of leading scientific schools of the Russian Federation.
