The Lyceum was founded in 1982. The reason for its creation was that in the 80-s the education quality of the school-leavers began to fall sharply, especially physics. At the institute at that time were preparatory courses and evening physics and mathematics school, which was being prepared to enter the MEPhI. These classes have visited about 2 - 2500 students 10 - 11 classes. But all the same courses and night school was not enough, so the MEPhI Rector had the idea to create profiled physic-mathematical school for the senior classes. School was named Moscow City School with advanced study of mathematics and physics at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute number 542.
It should be noted that the first two editions of all the graduates, who have submitted documents to the MEPhI, received in this institution. At the same time, teachers MEPhI noted the highest level of training and discipline of the graduates of this school.
In 1993 the school received the status of the Lyceum (FML № 1511 at MEPhI) In 2002, high school celebrated its twentieth anniversary.
High school graduates work in many universities and institutes in the world, participate in international scientific experiments, led by banks, firms and enterprises.
To date, high school is a 4 ninth, tenth in 1910 and 10 eleventh grades, with an average of 15 students per class. In 2001, there were two high school humanities class, since 2004 - the ninth grade.
The base is equipped with one of the Lyceum and the four chemical and physical laboratories with modern equipment, working computing center.
